The Basic Structure of A Video Game Themed Aug

Overview

Augmentations, or Aug files, are the basis of how the player interacts with any aspect of Table Realms.
An Aug file can take many forms, including:

  • A video game controller
  • A menu with buttons
  • A multiple choice answer panel

The purpose of this chapter is to show the reader how Aug files are structured.

A demo Aug file is available for download here.
The Aug file has a thumbstick, and two buttons.

Once you have downloaded the demo Aug file, open it in the Table Realms designer.

Notice the structure of a basic videogame controller themed Aug:

  • Pages
  • Image Assets
  • Fonts
  • Audio (optional)
  • Scripts

Buttons and Thumbsticks can be coded to perform various actions. These actions are determined by scripts in the Table Realms IDE, as well as within the development engine itself.

For a more detailed rundown of the various components and their implementation, please refer to the subsections of chapter 2.7.
